Pam Bartels Morris

Pamela S. Bartels Morris, 67, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 25, 2011, in Dover, Del., after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.  A beloved mother and grandmother, she was a longtime real estate agent and community volunteer on the Main Line outside of Philadelphia, Pa.

Memorial services were held at Saint Mary's Episcopal Church, Wayne, Pa.  A family ceremony was held at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery.   Donations may be sent to The American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720 (check memo field: Pam Morris, deceased).

Mrs. Morris was born in Rock Island to Walter G. and Margaret L. Bartels and graduated in 1962 from Rock Island High School, where she was actively involved in art and drama programs.  She then attended the University of Iowa (Iowa City main campus), where she studied art history and education.  She pledged and became a member of Alpha Phi sorority, where her vibrant, outgoing enthusiasm was showcased well while being involved in her campus community.  She transferred and completed her education at Indiana University (Bloomington campus).  In 1965, she received a B.S. in art education, going on to receive her master's degree in the School of Fine Arts in 1967, graduating with honors.

Continuing her passion for art and her love of children, she went on to teach art in the Dolton, Ill., School District and later served as the director of art education at Crete Monee High School, Crete, Ill.

Upon moving to Wayne in 1978, Mrs. Morris focused her zest for life, boisterous laugh, creative mind and determined spirit on organizing charitable events for several volunteer organizations in the Main Line community.  She was proud to become a member, and later a part of the executive board, of the Jr. Saturday Club of Wayne. She went on to organize and help run events such as the (then) Philadelphia Gimbles Thanksgiving Day Parades, numerous charitable events and worked directly with producing the highly successful "Main Line Classics" cookbooks.

Mrs. Morris also was highly involved in volunteer work for the Devon Horse Show & Country Fair for more than three decades.  There, her years of leadership and strong work ethic led the way for her to become a successful chairman of committees such as cafeteria, tea cart, Midway and the Blue Room. Her love for Devon and her dedication of more than 30 years has helped raise millions of dollars benefiting the Bryn Mawr Hospital.

Professionally, since 1985, Mrs. Morris was a successful real estate agent, serving the Main Line as VP of relocation for Hoopes Better Homes & Gardens and as an agent later for Weichert (Wayne) and Prudential, Fox & Roach (Haverford Station).  She led some of the largest pharmaceutical corporate relocation projects in the Philadelphia & Tri-state areas.  After retiring in October 2010, she moved from Wayne to Smyrna, Del.

Mrs. Morris was a breast cancer survivor since 1997.

Mrs. Morris is survived by her daughter, Alisen Dupre, her husband, Adam, and her grandson, Chase, Tustin, Calif.; and her son, Carter Morris Jr., his wife, Karen, and her grandchildren, Anne and Kathryn, Annapolis, Md.
