Joanne (Goethals) Rice

Joanne M. Rice, 61, of Moline, died Monday, January 9, 2006, at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley. A Mass of the Christian Burial was held at Sacred Heart Church, Moline, where she was a member.  Burial was in St. Mary€™s Cemetery, East Moline.

Mrs. Rice was born February 5, 1944, in Moline, the daughter of Robert and Ella Fellows Goethals. She married Blair Bryan on September 23, 1961 in Rock Island. She married Donald E. Johnston on July 2, 1976. She married Samuel L. Rice on August 24, 1984. Joanne was employed as a hairstylist at Bentley Hair, Moline for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and golfing.

Survivors include daughters and son-in-law Cindy and Rick Jennings, Moline and Cheri Abbott, Naples, Florida; grandchildren, Amanda, Stacey, Eric, Ellen, Tom, Steve, Cloie Jennings and Chase Rodgers; sister Jessica Wentzloff, Coal Valley, Illinois; brothers and sisters-in-law Robert M. and Carla Goethals, Coal Valley and Dr. James and Deb Hudson, Rock Island; 4 nieces; a nephew; an aunt; an uncle and many special cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by daughter Christina Marie.
