Earl Hickman

Services for Earl E. Hickman, Jr., 52, of 908 13th Ave., Rock Island, were held at Second Baptist Church, Rock Island, where he was a member. Burial is in the National Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Milan Legion/VFW.

Mr. Hickman died Friday, April 19, 1996, at Veterans Administration Hospital, Iowa City.

He was born March 9, 1944, in Rock Island, the son of Earl E. Sr. and Elizabeth Payne Hickman.

He was a graduate of Black Hawk College. In 1963 his design was chosen for the yearbook emblem.

He was part owner of Classic Advertising and Hickman Recreation Center, both in Rock Island.

He was active with area youth, including Boys Choir, Big Brother program, Masonic Junior Craftsmen, Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts.

He was an Air Force veteran.

He enjoyed attending car shows throughout the area, entering his customized limo and customizing model cars. He was a member of the Quad City Cruisers Car Club. He also enjoyed music, hunting, fishing and renovating older homes.

Survivors include daughters, Cheryl Lynn Hickman, Atlanta, Ga., and Kishanna Kali Hickman, Rock Island; sons, Earl Hickman III and Terrill Hickman, both of Rock Island; a stepdaughter, Misty Ruiz, Rock Island; a stepson, Robert Ruiz, Davenport; nine grandchildren; his mother, Rock Island; a brother, Cecil Lee Hickman, Rock Island; and a special friend, Diane Ruiz, Rock Island.
