Jerry Hunter
July 13, 1943 - August 5, 2008

ORION, Ill. -- Jerry L. Hunter, of Orion, went to be with the
Lord on Friday, August 1, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock
Island, after fighting a courageous battle with heart disease for
nine years. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, August
5, 2008, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Ave.,
Moline. V Burial was in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.
Memorials may be made to the Orion United Methodist Church.
Jerry was born July 13, 1943, in Quincy, Ill., the son of Everett
and Mary (Miller) Hunter. He was a 1962 graduate of Rock
Island High School and enjoyed going to the different Rocky sporting
events. He graduated from ITT Technical College in 1964 with
an Associates Degree. He married Paula Crisel in 1966.
Jerry had previously worked at the Rock Island Arsenal and at
International Harvester. He was formerly employed at the Q. C.
International Airport before his battle began with heart disease.
Jerry was an avid sports fan who loved the Fighting Illini and
the LA Dodgers. He enjoyed cars, horse racing, reading books
on history and going to the river with his grandkids. He loved
spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and
going to all of their sporting events.
Survivors include his children and spouses, Lori Staken (Keith
Lucas) Orion, Tammy Lage (Samuel) Moline, Mark Hunter (Amy) Moline,
Jennifer Lees (Dan) Orion; grandchildren, Ashley Staken, Shelby
Wilson, Nathanial Lage, Taylor Lage, Valerie Lage, Abigail Lage,
Jacob Hunter, Samantha Hunter, Heather Hunter, Michael Lees; two
step grandchildren, Aron & Addy Lees; great-grandchildren, Nicky
Moore; sister, Barbara Iams (Wendell) East Moline; many nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his niece Debbie Iams, sister Shirley
Johnson and his parents.
