Harold Newton

Harold R. "Newt" Newton, 62, of Geneseo passed away Wednesday May 10, 2006 at the Hammond-Henry Hospital Geneseo with his wife and family at his side.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo. Rev.  Michael Pakula officiated. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.

Harold was born on May 5, 1944 in Rock Island, Illinois the son Harold M. & Mildred Darwin Newton.  He was a1962 graduate of the Rock Island High School. He married Joann Heydeman June 22, 1963 in East Moline.  Newt had a 42 yr career with the International Harvestor Co, Tenneco, ECO, and Case IH & Finally CNH.  Newt was proud of the fact that that he started in janitorial services and ended his career as a quality control engineer.  He was a member of the St. Malachy's Catholic Church, and enjoyed gardening, remodeling, his family and grandchildren.  He was our family's gift from God.


Survivors include: His loving wife, Joann; one daughter and spouse Kara and Dan Barnes, Geneseo; three sons and spouses,Scott Newton, Geneseo, Vincent and Cindy Newton, Geneseo, Eric and Melanie Newton, Geneseo: his Parents Harold M. and Mildred Newton, Rock Island; six Grandchildren, Megan, Collin, Kaitlyn, Cameron, Carlie, and Karrigen: one sister, Donna DeFauw, Rock Island; many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents.


Harold was a devoted family man and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.  We couldn't have asked for a more special Husband, Father and Grandfather. He was truly a very giving and loving man.
