Karen (Steeber) Strieder

August 2, 1944 - July 24, 2008

Karen Lynn Strieder, 63, of Milan, died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.

Funeral services were held at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Burial was at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.

Karen Lynn Steeber was born on Aug. 2, 1944, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Robert C. and Marie L. Cobb Steeber. She married Carl G. Strieder on Jan. 21, 1972, in Rock Island.

She worked as a legal secretary for the Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Co. and later for Mid American Energy as an administrative assistant. She had more than 35 years of service with the utility companies when she retired in 2006.

Karen loved to be with her family and friends and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and was a fan of NASCAR and fond of Jeff Gordon.

Survivors include her husband; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Betty Timmer, Milan; daughter and son-in-law, Brandy and Brian McGarry, Milan; grandchildren, Caitlin, Justin, Ryan, Taylor, Lexis, Mya and Brycen; and brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Georgia Steeber, Rock Island. She was preceded in death by her parents.
