Don Withrow
March 13, 1944 - April 3, 2001
Donald Eugene Withrow, 57, of Monroe, Mich., formerly of Rock Island, died
Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio,
Perrysburg, Ohio.
Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island.
Burial is in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to
8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the
family.
Don was born March 13, 1944, in Rock Island, the son of William C.
and Bessie Temple Withrow. He was educated in Rock Island public
schools, attended Alleman High School and graduated from Rock Island
High School in 1962. He attended Black Hawk College and the
police-training academy at the University of Illinois, where he
received the ``Best in Class'' award.
Don had been employed at the International Harvester Corp. Farmall
Works, Rock Island, and had served as a police officer for the city
of Rock Island.
He later lived in Hayward, Calif., Lake Tahoe, Calif., Mentor, Ohio,
and Monroe, Mich., and worked for several automobile dealerships.
Survivors include sons, Jason Withrow, Painesville, Ohio, and
Alexander Walker, Willoughby, Ohio; brothers and sisters-in-law,
Bill and Jackie Withrow, East Moline, Gary and Sandy Withrow,
Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Leburn
Barnes, Stanton, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joyce Vaughn.
