Sherry Tyler 1962

Jim and Sherry Tyler Coyle

Sherry Tyler Coyle stayed in the Quad Cities after graduation, and today, she and her husband, Jim, of 13 years, live in Moline.

She has four children and between Sherry and Jim, they have 26 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  "I love my grandchildren," she said.

Sherry is having a wonderful retirement.  She retired three years ago after 20 years as a medical transcriptionist at Illini Hospital in Silvis - about the same time as her twin brother, Bill, she recalls.  "I highly recommend it, and I love it," she said.

Sherry cannot see her grandchildren often enough so she spends a lot time with them.  She is also very active in their church, the Silvis Heights Baptist Church in Silvis, where her husband is a trustee and she works with young children and does clerical work.  "I just finished teaching Vacation Bible School," she said.

Now that she is no longer an eight to fiver, she has time for gardening, reading, and traveling, and just being together with her husband .   "We have a good time," she said.

The couple spends five months out of the year at their home in LaBelle, Fla.  "Out in the orange groves," she explained.

The pair have traveled everywhere in the U.S. except for the northeast - something they plan to remedy.

Sherry served as a consultant for a company in India to evaluate  medical units, and as a result, Sherry and Jim spent six weeks in Bangor and New Dehli.  "The people I worked with were wonderful, and everyone wanted to be packed up in our suitcase and come back with us," she said.

They were chauffeured around the country although Sherry says the traffic was chaotic at best.  She says she was okay with it, but Jim had other thoughts. "We only saw one stop sign the whole time, and the guy drove right through it," she said.

She had many friends, especially people from her church group at Memorial Christian Church in Rock Island - Connie Welch, Pat Ruzicka, Cynthia Hennessey, Judy Liljegren, Charley Broncatto and George Pickett to name a few.

So far, she has made it to three reunions.  "It's wonderful to have happy times to look back on," she said.
